Well, the second set of one group per session has been completed and the pupils worked really hard. As a non qualified teacher - but someone who has a LOT of experience in the training of others in a variety of settings (I even had NVQ;s in assessment to prove it!) - I must say that I'm pleased at how much some of the pupils engaged in the project. A few were thinking of a variety of extras to be put on their web pages and I was very pleased at the enthusiasm they displayed.
We had a few issues with laptops that did not want connect to the internet or even Weebly itself, but we managed to overcome these and even sorted out how to get the best images on their pages (something we had struggled with previously).
So, we have one more session for the remaining group and then possibly a final session to fettle and furtle the pages prior to the web site being published online. Obviously, by the time you read this (if anyone actually does), it will all be published and (hopefully) looking as good as it can!
This has been a process that has been refined as we go, and issues and elements that could be changed for a future similar project have been noted and will be taken into account as and when relevant. I have tried to make the project with each group fun but productive. Only the children concerned and those who end up browsing through this site will be able to make their mind up if this was achieved!
Next update when the final group session has been completed....
